FAQs
Drone surveys and inspections, answered.
The questions clients ask most about drone roof surveys, building inspections, 3D models and mapping.
What is a drone roof survey?
A drone roof survey is a close-range visual inspection of a roof carried out with a drone instead of scaffolding, ladders or a cherry picker. We photograph every roof plane, chimney, valley, flashing and gutter, then send you a link to a gallery of photos, including close-ups, and a video running up and down the roof.
How much does a drone roof survey cost?
Small roof inspections start from around £300 + VAT, including photos and video. 3D building models start from £400 + VAT and construction progress flights from £350. Larger, multiple or high-rise roofs are quoted per job, and we always give a fixed price before we fly.
Are you a chartered building surveyor?
No. We are a CAA-authorised drone operator. We capture the roof and building imagery and 3D models safely from the air, and a qualified surveyor, engineer or contractor makes the assessment. We regularly work alongside surveyors and can work with yours.
Do you need scaffolding or roof access?
No. The drone inspects high-level areas from the air, so there is no scaffolding, ladders or working at height, which makes a drone roof inspection faster, safer and usually far cheaper than traditional access.
What is a digital twin or 3D building model?
A digital twin is an accurate, measurable 3D copy of a building or site, made from thousands of overlapping drone photos using photogrammetry. You can view it online, walk around it, take measurements and share it with your team, clients or contractors.
What do I get from aerial site mapping?
Drone mapping gives you a measurable online 3D model of your land or site. You can see the lie of the land, measure distances, areas and slopes, and share it with anyone, plus download point cloud and OBJ files.
Can you provide regular construction progress photos and videos?
Yes. We fly construction sites monthly, and often twice a month during busy phases. Each visit includes a 360 orbit video of the whole site and a 60 to 90 second highlights video of the key changes. Flights start from £350, and the first flight is free on multi-flight projects.
Which areas do you cover?
We are based in Lichfield, Staffordshire and cover Birmingham, Sutton Coldfield, Tamworth, Walsall, Wolverhampton, Cannock, Burton upon Trent, Derby, Nottingham, Leicester, Coventry, Solihull and the wider Midlands, and travel across the UK for larger projects.
Is it safe and legal to fly a drone near my building?
Yes. We hold a GVC, an Operational Authorisation in the Specific category and an A2 CofC, carry £5m public liability insurance, check site access and flight restrictions before we book, and carry out a risk assessment on the day.
